ASUU : We’ve not received FG’s N20bn for public varsities The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that it is yet to receive the Twenty Billion Naira recently approved by the Federal Government for the revatilization of public universities. This is even as the Union said the funding arrangement lacked direction and was heading for the ditch. The Benin Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Prof. Fred Esumeh disclosed this at a media briefing held yesterday at the University of Benin. Esumeh who spoke on behalf of the heads of the various ASUU chapters under the zone, said the initiative was heading for the ditch because the government was yet to consider the instrument of implementation planning committee. Added to this, he said, is the alleged refusal of the Federal Government to release the forensic Audit Report on Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) payments to offset the balance of arrears for 2009-2002. He explained that “the best government had done is to d...

The NLC, had directed all workers across the country to embark on one-week warning strike which starts today. A collegue who visited the university Thursday morning observed that students and lecturers who had lectures as at 8am in the morning were shocked to meet the lecture venues put under lock and keys. Administrative offices were not spared as most members who had come to work were directed to return home after attending the congress of their unions held at the Theatre Arts to intimate members on compliance. The development also forced many students to loiter around, discussing the implication of the development on their pursuit. ...

MCB(MICROBIOLOGY) vs MCT(Microbiology Technology)

MCB vs MCT. Good evening all, Well I was asked by a friend today about which to choose between MCB and MCT because she was given double admission (MCB on the merit list and MCT on basic list), and this simple yet complicated question provoked me to do some research and I thought it wise to put my results our here as It may help clear some other confused citizen . First of all they are both MICROBIOLOGY technically the only difference is that the MCT is under the faculty of SLT (Science laboratory technology) and thus they carry out induction and oath taking after completing there study during which license of practice is awarded to them . Next , 1. MCB =4YEARS and MCT =5YEARS (We already know that) 2. with MCT you are trained to be a technologist and a microbiologist and MCT is more about NANOBOTS technology which Nigeria doesn't know much about yet and doesn't practice fully  . Still researching tho... 3. The only edge per say that MCT has over MCB is that they are g...
