The Rivers state university formerly U.S.T on Monday night released her advert for post utme exam application for interested and qualified students, on the memo reaching us the post utme registration exercise is scheduled to end on Friday this week the 6th (this is still subject to change tho) all applicants are advised to go to the school or any jamb recognized Cbt center and register, those with awaiting o level results are still free to apply. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has rescheduled the conduct of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to 11th April. The board also fixed 1st April for the conduct of its mock examination earlier scheduled for Saturday, 23rd March. JAMB’s Head of Media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, in Abuja. The statement directed candidates to begin the printing of their UTME notification slips from 2nd April in any part of the country. The board added that it also reopened its registration portal to 41,063 candidates who have created their profiles and procured either the UTME or DE ePINS till Friday 15th, March. The statement read: “The Board has scheduled to conduct the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) from Thursday, 11th April, 2019. ‘’Candidates are to begin the printing of the 2019 UTME notification slips from Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019. 2019 UTME: Cyber cafés deserted as JAMB commences registration .        Applicants of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have deserted Cyber cafés in Bwari, Abuja, as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Thursday commenced the 2019/20 registration.  Candidates writing the JAMB UTME. JAMB commenced the online registration in its Computer Based Test (CBT) centres across the country. The Board’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said recently that it would stop the use of cyber cafés for registration of candidates, to stop extortion of candidates by these outlets. Oloyede said that the stoppage of these commercial vendors would also put an end to the mix-up of candidates’ data by the vendors. ASUU strike: FG approves over N35.4bn, to resume talks on Thursday . ABUJA – Barring any last minutes change, academic activities may resume in public universities next week, as Federal Government has approved over N35.4 billion for the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). In a resolution reached Monday night between the Federal Government and the leadership of ASUU at the Conference Hall, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Abuja, the government announced that Federal Ministry of Finance and Accountant General of the Federation have confirmed payment of N15.389.940,335.71 billion to accommodate payment of shortfall in all institutions that are Presidential Initiative of Continuous Audit, PICA varied. The Minister of Labour and Employment who disclosed this at the end of the meeting said the money was remitted on the 31st December, 2018. Hope for an end to the asuu strike

The federal government on Monday resumed talks with the leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) with both sides expressing hope of an agreement that would bring an end to the ongoing strike in public universities. Lecturers at the universities went on strike on November 4 last year, demanding improved funding of universities and implementation of previous agreements with the government. The National President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, led the union’s delegation to Monday’s meeting we had reported ASUU saying it would not honour further calls by the federal government for a meeting with its members on the strike. But Mr Ogunyemi told newsmen on Sunday afternoon that the union was available for discussion with the government. “They said they have taken some steps and they want to present them tomorrow,” he said. “So, we want to see what they have done.
